This definitely isn't one of the best photos I've taken, but I love the way the stars came out looking like swirls of light against the darkness. If there's one thing I love about Ateneo, it's got to be the way the campus literally lights up during the Christmas season. :) It makes me feel all warm and fuzzy just thinking about it. :)

this morning, i found out that Cedric just passed away.
and all i could say when i found out
was "oh. my. gosh."
because i knew that there was really nothing else i could do.

things are still a bit surreal for me now.
i don't think it's really sunk in yet.

he passed away at 1am today.
it makes me feel weird to know that i was doing my own thing at that time.
mundane things, like talking to friends over YM and preparing for a presentation.
while he was at home in Pangasinan, breathing his last breath.

(1.) flowers-- preferrably fresh
pretty flowers with vibrant colors. these are peonies (i think) taken in the Farmer's Market just outside our hotel in downtown LA. pretty pretty fresh flowers. :)

(2.) STRAWBERRIES!!!!!
fresh, yummy strawberries! i love them! especially huge ones like this. rare in the Philippines. $2 a basket at the Farmer's Market. Yay!

(3.) nice, long walks and nice, little places
walking around small streets with old buildings (in Boston). very nice and quaint. i love the city and their cobblestone streets! :)

(4.) my family :)
taking paparazzi pictures with (or of) the siblings i love. (well, okay, i love all of them equally. :) )

(5.) i scream for ice cream! :)
who doesn't love ice cream on a hot summer day? (taken in Quincy Market, Boston)

double despedida

So last Saturday's party turned out to be a double despedida & a birthday party.

In the same night, good friend of mine told me that she's moving out of her house.
I've never felt so old in my entire life.
Well, okay, I probably have.
But right now, this tops the list.

Because I won't get to say good bye to Sisoy before he leaves,

I can't upload my picture with Mikey, but I will miss him, too. :( I'll definitely crash in your place in the future, especially since you live 20 minutes away from Woodbury. WOO HOO! :D

I have a 12-15 hour flight (how long does it take to go to LA? I forget.) in 8 hours, and I haven't packed a single thing yet. Hee hee. Oops. :) See you when I do again, world! :)

it's been a while since I last blogged.
the last two weeks of May were busy, but awesome.
met a lot of cool and interesting people,
made a number of good friends...
basically, I survived running AUDC-- hurrah!

it's June again and I can't believe I won't be driving down this road again when school starts. Not every day, at least. But I love walking here every Sunday with Kirby. :)

Meanwhile, I want you to meet Trekker.
He is the cutest and sweetest kid in the world!!!

Last Sunday, I was teasing him that I wanted some of his popcorn during Worship service. He didn't want to share, so I let him enjoy his popcorn. When he saw me crying an hour later (because of something else altogether), he felt awful and gave me the whole bucket of popcorn that was left!

He whispered to Janine: Janine, she's crying! I think it's because I didn't give her popcorn! Give her my popcorn! And he wouldn't take no for an answer! As in he kept on shoving it into my hands just to make me feel better!! I ended up giving it back to him, though. I didn't want to deprive him of his popcornny joy. :)

Awww. I heart you, Trekker. And I am soooo glad Janine isn't leaving. :) :) :)

ps- and about the picture... yes, i do love the moon. just as much as i love the stars and the sunset. seeing the moon rise is rare because most of the time, i hardly notice. and i just love it every time i do. it reminds me that God's always there, even if things seem all nice and bright. we just have to look at the right places and in the right direction. things don't always have to be dark and difficult for us to truly feel and see God. :) amen!

i miss all this silliness. :(

I went to (the) Ateneo today (yesterday na pala, since May 10 na).
I never really realized how much I missed the place,
Until I actually went back on a school day and saw all the people on campus.

I miss my old life.
I miss the freedom, the breaks, the random gimiks, the Bridge games..
I miss the predictability of my days, and even the stress that came along with it.
I miss being unpredictable and adventurous.

I miss my Chicken Crispers, Green Mango Shake, Milo Ice, Asian Salpicao.
(okay, so I'm a pig. :p)

I miss sitting on the floor and talking about stupid things.
(Like arguing between wanting only 4 toes or 4 fingers. HAHA!)
I miss Manang's.
(Who doesn't love their leimpo??)

I miss the feeling of walking down the entire SEC walkway.
After coming from a class in CTC or SOM.
Knowing that I'm on my to the Beach...

this is home. :)

These days, the Beach is empty.
Because all of us have our own lives to live,
And our own paths to pave.

i needed a stress reliever from work, so yesterday i bought a lot of gummy bears to keep me company. tonight i came home really tired and stressed, so i did the one thing i love the most: take pictures! :D combine that with my (current) favorite subject (my gummy bears), and it became an instant upper for my mood! :) :) yay! haha! :)

maybe it's time for my so big crayola's and my coloring book now. :D

a morning spent with kids from Kythe.

because i believe that children should be flying kites,

not fighting cancer.

i made a new friend today! :)
her name's Jamaica.
(actually, i've known her for a few years already, but never really got to play with her)
she's deaf and mute. but she's the sweetest kid i've ever met.
she drew a family picture kind of thing today as part of our art activity.
in the drawing, she included a picture of her, her mom, her 2 favorite pillows (Love and Rose), God, and... ME! :D
she made me a post card thing too with our names on it. (which we hold here. :) )

when the card was blown away by the fan
and the glitter glue made a mess on my (new) jeans
her carefree laughter...
was just priceless.

so no matter how sabog i may look in this picture,
or how hot it was today,
it was all worth it.
her laughter and her innocent smile made it all worth it. :)
this is the reason why i Kythe and why i keep on Kythe-ing.
i love it. :)

i know a bit of sign language now, too! how cool is that? :)

hello again, boys and girls. im back in action! :D
i just love love loved my trip!
one of the highlights...

walking 4.5 kilometers (that's 9 kilometers total, back and forth!)
for 6 hours (hey, i had to wait for my mom and aunts! the oldest was 70 years old!)
just to see this wonderful five-colored pond thing created wonderfully by God.
no photoshop or any other fancy camera tricks here, swear.
ain't that cool? :D

now i know what it feels like to walk from my house to Ateneo.
i've always wondered how long it would take me and what it would feel like. haha! :)

guess how many layers of clothing i had on in this picture and i will give you a prize. ;)
clue: i was freezing my butt off. haha! :D

for now, i have to deal with a nasty case of diarrhea
that threatens to dehydrate the living lights out of me.
oh the wonders of China and its after effects. haha. :p

it's March! and all I can think of now is "ohmygod, I'm graduating!"

(exhibit A.) Fan girl picture with Fr. Ben. hee hee! I have so much respect for this guy. and i love him even if he never really did anything directly for me. There's just something magical about Fr. Ben that makes him so respectable and loveable. Maybe it's the master's degree in *ahem* Mathematics from no less than Standford University that makes him so admirable. But even so, I find him so humble and down to earth. And I heard he runs at Moro around 5x a week. And I never even run. Haha. Shame. :)

(exhibit B.) Proud mommy to some of her officers this year. What a way to end my year-- God gracing me with the award of Most Outstanding Student Group in last Friday's Loyola Schools Awards for Leadership and Service. It wasn't just a win for Kythe, but it was a personal victory as well. As Jenica said, I'm no longer the bridesmaid, but I'm now the bride. Ah basta, it's a personal thing. :D I didn't really expect to win, which is why I think everything was so much sweeter for me that night. All I can think of now is thank God it was a good hair day for me! HAHAHA. Ok, ditz, I know. Madaming pictures, e! haha! :)

Another teacher I super respect because of her wisdom and intelligence. i realized today that not all kites will fly the way we want them to.
no matter how hard we pull or how fast we run.
if we hold on too tight or pull too hard..
the string breaks or the sticks tear through the fabric.
and i'm sure if they had feelings, they'd get tired of all this pulling and pushing against the wind.
(ok that was a stupid bimbo-ish thing to say. hehe. but the point is...)
i know i am.

if only we let the kite fly freely,

i'm sure that all of us, at some point in our lives, have experienced waiting.
for someone to come or something to happen.
this picture reminds me of that.

this is dedicated to Jenica.
she loves this picture. (or she was just being nice when she saw it. haha!)
since it's valentine's day, i wanted to put it up for her.

God answers prayers

God answered two of my prayers today. Yup, all in one day! Sulit. :) These aren't my best photos but I just wanted to share with the world how much I love this little munchkin named Cedric.

Took those photos last week, when I thought that that would be the last time I would see him. Ever. You see, Cedric has Cancer. He's been battling bone cancer for more than a year now, and recently, they found a tumor in his lungs too. He was up for an operation last week, but his parents decided against it. Sabi sa akin ng tita nya, iuuwi na lang daw nila si Cedric. No more Chemo, no more operation. And he's just three years old, by the way. :( You can just imagine how that made me feel. Parang prolonged death sentence lang. :( My friends and I have been praying for him since, and lo and behold... the news that awaited me today!

I went back to the hospital and saw Cedric's empty bed. But wait! The ate of the other kid I visit there said that he's going to be back tomorrow, and will be scheduled for an operation w/in the week or early next week. HURRAH! I think I almost cried when I heard the news. His family brought him around lang last week, because for the next year, he'll have to go back to fighting Cancer again, so he can't really go out anymore. They said he went to Star City and other fun fun kiddie places. I'm sooo happy for him! :)

Can't explain the joy I feel right now, knowing that God has made things right again. And then God also answered my other prayer today. Gave me something I've wanted for so long. Thank you, God. :D woot! :D

reviving old photos from my computer. first two photos were for my photo essay on one of Pablo Neruda's poems. can you believe that i took those photos in Marikina? I never knew such a pretty place existed in Marikina, parang nag-time warp ako nung nadaanan ko. it was great for taking photos. yun nga lang, beauty was only skin deep. front lang pala yun, para maganda tignan pag dinaanan. but everything behind those pretty structures were just ordinary shanties and cramped houses.

the second photo is again a photo of the sun setting. and you won't guess where i took that photo. sa loyola memorial cemetery. or something like that. i forgot the real name, basta sa cemetery. i needed to take photos of graves for the same photo essay and couldn't help but take a photo of the sun setting. i love the way the cross from Ateneo was visible all the way in the cemetery.

maybe one day i'll post the photo essay i made for my photography class. when i have time. or when i'm procastinating again. like today. :D

i've been working all day on my LS paper. Good Lord, have mercy on me. Hmph. This is driving me crazy. Surprisingly, though, I'm not all too excited to graduate yet. I don't want to grow up pa. Please time, stop for me? :D

Sunset in Ateneo.

i obviously have a thing for sunsets and catching the last few rays of light before the sky goes dark.

i especially love the way the rays were visible on the first picture.

all photos taken in Ateneo. discovered a new part of the campus today. near the Meron pond. quite a sight there. the campus can be such a wonderful, beautiful place at the right times.
